About Big Walker Lookout

Big Walker Lookout sits at the top of Big Walker Mountain along US Highway 52, between Wytheville and Bland. Visitors can climb its 100-foot tower for wide views, with farmland to the north and Jefferson National Forest to the south. The attached country store sells hand-dipped ice cream, fudge, crafts from regional makers, and local books. On weekends from May through October, the lookout hosts free live old-time and bluegrass music. The family has run the business since 1947, and the site is a stop on the Big Walker Mountain Scenic Byway.
