About Edgar Allan Poe Museum

The Poe Museum in Richmond's Shockoe Bottom opened in 1922 and holds the largest public collection of Edgar Allan Poe's belongings, works and memorabilia, including his childhood bed, his pocket watch and a fragment of his coffin. Poe never lived here, but he grew up in Richmond, and the museum traces his years in the city. It centers on the Old Stone House, built around 1740 and cited as the oldest original residence in Richmond. Tickets are sold online or at the gift shop, and last entry is at 4:30 pm.
