High Point State Park covers more than 15,000 acres of the Kittatinny Mountains and holds the highest point in New Jersey, at 1,803 feet. A 220-foot granite obelisk built between 1928 and 1930 to honor war veterans crowns the summit, with views toward the Poconos and the Catskills. You can hike a stretch of the Appalachian Trail, swim at spring-fed Lake Marcia in summer, camp, fish, or cross-country ski in winter.
