About Highland Lakes State Park

Highland Lakes is a largely wild state park covering thousands of acres of woodland and lakes in Orange County, New York. Its towns of Wallkill and Crawford host the land, which sits northeast of Middletown. Visitors come to fish, hike, ride horses on permitted trails, and fly model planes. The park has no developed facilities, so visitors should expect no toilets and only limited parking. Dogs must stay leashed, and archery deer hunting is allowed on set days in marked areas.
