Hillwood was the residence of businesswoman and philanthropist Marjorie Merriweather Post. Today it operates as a museum whose collection centers on the Romanov dynasty, including two Fabergé eggs. Visitors also find 18th- and 19th-century French art and one of the country's notable orchid collections. The estate's grounds include about thirteen acres of formal gardens, and the museum offers tours, lectures, concerts, and seasonal programs.
