Lake Hiawatha Park is a Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board property in the Ericsson neighborhood of the south side. It covers about 241 acres, including a lake and a golf course. Visitors can walk paved paths along the water, fish from a pier, use a playground and a wading pool, or play on tennis, basketball, and ball fields. In winter the park offers a cross-country ski trail and an ice rink. A granite sculpture on the north side of the recreation center lets people hear lake sounds through an interactive listening design. The lake takes its name from the hero of Longfellow's poem about Hiawatha.
