Tower Hill Park sits on one of the highest points in Minneapolis and is known for its wooded, steep terrain. Its best-known feature is the Witch's Hat water tower, completed in 1914 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. The tower's observation deck is usually closed to visitors, but opens one day a year during a neighborhood ice cream social held across the street. The park has a tennis court, a walking path, and a drinking fountain, and it has stayed mostly quiet, passive green space since its early days.
