About Lincoln Park

Lincoln Park is the largest of the Capitol Hill parks, a mile east of the Capitol at East Capitol and 11th Streets. At one end stands the Emancipation Group statue of 1876, unveiled with Frederick Douglass as keynote speaker. At the other is the 1974 Mary McLeod Bethune Memorial, the first monument to an African American and a woman in a D.C. public park. The east end has two fenced play areas for small children, and entry is free.
