Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park

Park visitor center on the Arizona-Utah border, Navajo Nation · Oljato-Monument Valley, AZ

Why you should go…

Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park protects the sandstone buttes on the Arizona-Utah border where John Ford filmed Westerns such as Stagecoach and The Searchers. A 17-mile dirt loop drive passes formations such as the West and East Mitten Buttes and Merrick Butte, the tallest rising about 1,000 feet above the valley floor. You can walk the 1.5-mile Wildcat Trail after signing in at the visitor center, or book a Jeep tour with a Navajo operator to reach areas closed to private cars.
