The Marine Corps' national museum opened beside I-95 near Marine Corps Base Quantico in 2006, and its exterior was designed to recall the Iwo Jima flag raising. Galleries run in order from the Revolution through World War II, Korea and Vietnam, and the final phase added in 2024 covers 1976 to the present. There is also a laser rifle range and a memorial park and chapel outside. Admission and parking are free. Allow at least three to four hours for the galleries.
