A restored 1923 Rosenwald school in Georgia that now serves as a museum of Black cultural history in Bartow County.
Bartow County, GA
This former schoolhouse was opened in 1923 as a school for Black children and was among the first of its kind in northwest Georgia. Its construction relied on Rosenwald funds, which were set aside for educating Black students. The school closed in 1955, when local Black students were moved into a consolidated school. After restoration work in 1989, the building reopened as a cultural museum focused on Black life in Bartow County, with particular attention to the late 1800s.
