Oak Alley Plantation is a historic site on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Vacherie, Louisiana, named for the roughly 800-foot alley of live oak trees planted in the early 18th century. Preserved by the nonprofit Oak Alley Foundation, it has been open to the public since 1976 and offers guided tours of the antebellum Big House along with exhibits on slavery and plantation history. The grounds also include restored slave quarters and other historic outbuildings.
