Opened in 1771 as a trading hall and customs office, this Charleston building has been a local landmark for nearly 250 years. The nonprofit site centers on the American Revolution and colonial Charleston. Visitors can explore a self-guided exhibition across the upper two floors. Admission also includes a guided tour of the cellar, known as the Provost Dungeon, which lasts about 25 minutes. Staff and docents are stationed throughout the building to share more of its story.
