About Pea Ridge National Military Park

Pea Ridge National Military Park preserves the battlefield where Union and Confederate forces fought in March 1862. Over 23,000 soldiers took part in the fighting, which helped the Union hold the border state of Missouri. The roughly 4,400-acre battlefield honors those who fought and died there. Elkhorn Tavern, which served as a field hospital during the battle, remains a central landmark. A visitor center includes a theater, a bookstore, and a small museum. Visitors can drive a tour road with 10 stops, ride a horse trail, or hike a trail through the grounds.
