Pennsylvania Avenue NW between the White House and the U.S. Capitol · Washington, DC
Pennsylvania Avenue National Historic Site, set up in 1965, covers the stretch of Pennsylvania Avenue NW between the White House and the U.S. Capitol, often called America's Main Street. Inaugural parades, marches and protests have all moved along it. On foot you pass Freedom Plaza, the Federal Triangle buildings, the U.S. Navy Memorial and nearby Ford's Theatre and the National Building Museum. Rangers from National Mall and Memorial Parks run interpretive programs. Parking is hard downtown, so take Metro to Federal Triangle, Metro Center or Archives/Navy Memorial.
