About United States Navy Memorial

The Navy Memorial plaza sits on Pennsylvania Avenue directly across from the National Archives, by the Archives Metro station. The Granite Sea, a giant map set in the plaza, surrounds the Lone Sailor statue, with masts, signal flags, fountain pools and 26 bronze reliefs of Navy history. The memorial was dedicated in 1987. Inside the visitor center you can see exhibits and search the Navy Log, a record of more than 787,000 people who served.
