Summit Ridge Drive, Simsbury, CT 06070 · Simsbury, CT
Talcott Mountain State Park covers 574 acres on a ridge above Avon, Bloomfield and Simsbury. Its landmark is Heublein Tower, a 165-foot lookout on the summit with a museum inside. Cars cannot drive to the tower, so you walk the yellow-blazed Tower Trail, about 2.5 miles out and back, which takes 30 to 40 minutes each way. The Metacomet Trail also runs along the ridge, and there are picnic spots with views. Parking is free for Connecticut cars; out-of-state vehicles pay $10 on weekdays and $15 on weekends.
