About Scantic River State Park

Spread across three separate sections in Enfield, East Windsor, and Somers, this state park covers 784 acres along the Scantic River. Visitors can hike both marked and unmarked trails, fish the river for several species, and paddle its rapids and calmer stretches. The Hazardville area holds ruins of the gunpowder mills once run by Colonel Augustus Hazard, including canals, stone dams, and brownstone blocks. Hunting is allowed in parts of the park during seasons, and camping is not permitted.
