Babb's Beach is a 7-acre town recreation area on the Middle Pond of the Congamond Lakes, on the Massachusetts line. In the 1930s it was an amusement park whose dance hall drew up to 3,000 people on weekends, and that hall, now a roller rink, still stands with an old arcade and shooting gallery. Today there are about 375 feet of beach, lifeguards in summer, a picnic pavilion and a field for games. Non-residents pay $40 per car for up to five people, and pets, alcohol and grilling on the beach are not allowed.
