Created in 1893, Beaver Brook was the first reservation of the Metropolitan Park Commission, set aside to protect the old Waverly Oaks. The north section has ponds, a waterfall and woodland paths for walks and picnics, and you can still see a monument to the oaks and remains of a 19th-century mill. The south section has athletic fields, tennis and basketball courts, a playground and a spray deck. The park is open dawn to dusk, and parking is free in both lots.
