About Beechwood State Park

Beechwood State Park covers 288 acres on the Lake Ontario shore in the Town of Sodus. From 1929 until the late 1990s it was Camp Beechwood, a Girl Scout camp; the state bought it in 1999 and added a neighboring parcel in 2006, and since 2010 the Town of Sodus has run it. Expect a quiet, simple park: several miles of mowed trails, a picnic pavilion, small shelters and about 1,500 feet of narrow pebble beach below eroding bluffs. The east entrance has a canoe and kayak launch and fishing access on Maxwell Creek. Primitive tent sites cost $15 a night, first come, first served, with check-in at the red barn by the main entrance. Alcohol is not allowed.
