About Caddo Mounds State Historic Site

This Texas Historical Commission site preserves a village and ceremonial center built by ancestral Caddo people more than 1,200 years ago. Three earthen mounds still stand in the Piney Woods landscape, and Caddo people continue to regard them as sacred. Visitors can view exhibits on how the Caddo lived off the land, walk a self-guided interpretive trail, see a traditional grass house, and follow a stretch of the El Camino Real de los Tejas historic trail.
