Colorado Bend State Park covers about 5,300 acres along the Colorado River, two hours northwest of Austin. Its signature sight is Gorman Falls, a 70-foot spring-fed waterfall reached by a rough, rocky 3-mile round-trip hike. The park has more than 35 miles of hiking and biking trails, swimming holes along Spicewood Springs, river fishing and wild cave tours that need a reservation. It often fills up, so reserve day passes ahead, and check road conditions after heavy rain because the entrance road can flood.
