Cumberland Island National Seashore

113 St. Marys St W · St. Marys, GA

Why you should go…

Cumberland Island National Seashore covers a barrier island six miles east of St. Marys that you can reach only by boat. A passenger ferry leaves from the visitor center dock downtown. Once ashore you have nearly 18 miles of undeveloped beach, over 50 miles of trails and roads, the ruins of the Carnegie family's Dungeness mansion and the intact Plum Orchard Mansion. The island has no amenities beyond restrooms and water fountains, so bring lunch and a refillable bottle.
