Located on the waterfront in historic St. Marys, Georgia, this museum calls itself the largest of its kind in the South. Its roughly 5,000 square feet of exhibits span two floors and cover the history of the submarine force and the people who served in it. The collection includes a large set of World War II submarine combat patrol reports, files on nearly every U.S. submarine, and pictures, models, artifacts, and documents, some not available elsewhere to the public. Visitors can look through a real Type 2 submarine periscope at the waterfront and beyond. The gift shop sells submarine memorabilia, clothing, books, and souvenirs.
