About Crooked River State Park

Crooked River State Park sits on the southern edge of Georgia's coast, a short drive from I-95. Tides shape the landscape here, and the park offers maritime forest, marsh views, and access to the Intracoastal Waterway. Campsites sit among palmettos and oaks draped in Spanish moss, and cottages overlook the tidal river. Anglers use the boat ramp, often launching before sunrise. A nature trail crosses forest and salt marsh, where visitors may spot gopher tortoises, fiddler crabs, and herons. A nature center displays fish, snakes, turtles, and other native coastal animals. Nearby, the ruins of a tabby mill from about 1825 later served as a starch factory during the Civil War. A ferry to Cumberland Island National Seashore is also close by.
