Housed in the former Central of Georgia Railway repair shops and terminal facilities, this museum lets visitors operate a handcar, walk through historic railcars, and take guided train tours on select days. The complex contains some of the oldest railroad repair buildings in the United States. Exhibits and tours cover railroad and technological history, industrial slavery, and segregation. Staff also preserve and restore buildings, railcars, and machinery on site. The complex is considered the most complete antebellum railroad complex in the country and is part of a National Register historic district.
