About Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture

Located within the Levine Center for the Arts downtown, the Gantt Center presents, preserves, and celebrates excellence in the arts, history, and culture of African-Americans and people of African descent. Visitors can view rotating exhibitions, explore digital arts through its Mecca of Digital Arts studio, and join family workshops, tours, and community events. Named for Harvey Gantt, Charlotte's first African-American mayor, the building was dedicated in October 2009 and was designed by Freelon Group Architects.
