About Mansfield Hollow State Park

Mansfield Hollow State Park sits along the edge of a lake of roughly 500 acres in Mansfield, Connecticut. Visitors come to fish for trout and bass, paddle kayaks or boats on the water, and eat lunch at picnic areas on pine-covered bluffs. A network of multi-use trails serves hikers, mountain bikers and cross-country skiers, and in winter the snowy landscape draws Nordic skiers. Birders watch for warblers and other songbirds, and the park is also an important inland stop for migrating shorebirds. The land is partly leased from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the park is crossed by a section of the Nipmuck Trail. Its geology reflects glacial deposits left as glaciers melted at the end of the last Ice Age.
