Museum in a former pumping station, focused on historic water engineering and public health.
2450 Beacon Street, Boston, MA 02467 · Boston, MA
The museum tells the story of one of the early large-scale water systems in the United States, using exhibits and education programs on engineering, architecture, social history, public health, and access to safe water. Its main draw is a hall holding preserved steam-powered pumps that once moved fresh water into Boston. The building is a Richardsonian Romanesque structure that originally served as a high-service pumping station. Visitors can also join special access tours and book private events.
