Paris Mountain State Park sits a short drive north of downtown Greenville and offers hiking, mountain biking, fishing, paddling, and swimming around its lakes. Lake Placid is a popular spot, with a loop trail that circles the water and passes a historic spillway. The park's roots go back to the 1930s, when Civilian Conservation Corps workers built many of its stone and timber structures, and the former bathhouse now serves as a visitor center with exhibits on local history and ecology. Visitors can choose among paved campsites, tent pads, and trailside camping, or rent a picnic shelter for group outings.
