A museum in the lighthouse keeper's dwelling showing Coastal Georgia history through artifacts, photographs, and hands-on displays.

About St. Simons Island Lighthouse Museum

Run by the Coastal Georgia Historical Society, this museum occupies the Keeper's Dwelling beside the St. Simons lighthouse. Its exhibits present regional history with rare artifacts, historical photographs, and interactive displays suited to families, and they also trace how lighthouse technology developed. Upstairs, period rooms recreate life in 1907, when a lighthouse keeper and his family lived there without electricity or indoor plumbing. The lighthouse itself stands on the southern tip of St. Simons Island and guides ships into St. Simons Sound while warning of nearby sandbars.
