About Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park

This Alabama state park in McCalla protects the remains of a 19th-century iron-making complex on roughly 1,500 acres across three counties. Visitors can view the large stone furnaces, tour the Iron and Steel Museum, and see a working gristmill and a cotton gin house. Seasonal demonstrations by blacksmiths, millers, and craftspeople run from spring through fall, and craft shops occupy restored pioneer cabins. The park also offers hiking trails, a miniature railroad, camping, cabin rentals, and special events such as Civil War reenactments and craft fairs.
