Set on the grounds of the United States Military Academy, this cemetery honors members of the Corps of Cadets, academy faculty and staff, and West Point graduates who devoted their lives to the nation. It overlooks the Hudson River and began as a burial ground for Continental Army soldiers during the American Revolutionary War and for early West Point residents before becoming a military cemetery in 1817. Visitors may walk the grounds during daylight hours, and grave locations can be found at information kiosks on site. Visitors should treat the grounds with respect, as prohibited activities include jogging, picnicking, and bicycling.
