About Wood Lake Nature Center

Wood Lake Nature Center covers about 150 acres and is run for environmental education, wildlife watching, and outdoor recreation. Its habitats include a cattail marsh, mixed lowland forest, and restored prairie. Visitors can walk over two miles of crushed limestone trails and a floating boardwalk, and find viewing benches, docks, two amphitheaters, a nature play area, and a picnic shelter. A new nature center building reopened in November with an observation deck, exhibits, and a sensory room. Pets and bikes are not allowed, in order to protect the habitat.
