About Bigelow Hollow State Park

Bigelow Hollow State Park sits inside one of the largest unbroken forest areas in eastern Connecticut, paired with the Breakneck Block of Nipmuck State Forest. Visitors find a wide trail network, including the northern end of the 35-mile Blue-Blazed Nipmuck Trail, along with ponds, streams, caves, and rock formations. Bigelow Pond and Mashapaug Lake offer boating and fishing, and the lake is known for record-size catches. Scuba diving is permitted in a designated cove on Mashapaug Lake for certified divers. In winter, the park is used for cross-country skiing and ice fishing. Camping and ground fires are not permitted, and pets must be leashed.
