Caledon State Park covers 2,587 acres on the Potomac River in King George County, on land first settled as Caledon Plantation in 1659. Its old-growth oak and tulip poplar forest is a National Natural Landmark, and many bald eagles spend the summer here. Ten hiking and four multi-use trails cross the park, and the 2-mile Boyd's Hole Trail leads down to the river. A visitor center in the Smoot House has eagle exhibits. Parking is $5 per vehicle.
