Hook Mountain State Park is 676 undeveloped acres of waterfront and cliff slopes on the west bank of the Hudson, stretching almost seven miles in Rockland County. Saved from quarrying in 1911, it is part of the Palisades Interstate Park system and shares a National Natural Landmark with neighboring Nyack Beach State Park. The ridge is a fall hawk-watching spot, where more than 12,000 hawks fly past in an average season. The easiest way in is through the Nyack Beach State Park entrance.
