Miller State Park covers the summit and slopes of Pack Monadnock, a 2,290-foot peak in Peterborough. It is the oldest state park in New Hampshire. A seasonal paved road climbs about 1.3 miles to the top, where a fire tower stands. Three main trails lead to the summit, including the well-known Wapack Trail, a long footpath that runs from Massachusetts to the north end of Pack Monadnock. On clear days, visitors can see as far as Mount Washington, Boston, and the hills of Vermont. Parking is limited, especially on busy weekends and holidays, so day-use reservations are recommended. Pets are permitted in the park.
