Odiorne Point State Park sits on the rocky Atlantic shore in Rye, near Portsmouth. A network of trails and a bike path run past tide pools, small beaches, World War II bunkers from Fort Dearborn and a monument to New Hampshire's first European settlement of 1623. The Seacoast Science Center, inside the park, has aquariums, touch tanks and whale skeletons, with a separate admission. Day use costs $4 for adults and $2 for children 6 to 11. Parking is limited on nice weekends, so you can reserve a spot up to 30 days ahead. Pets are not allowed.
