Southford Falls is a 169-acre state park where Eight Mile Brook drops in a tiered waterfall on its way toward the Housatonic River. Mills and later a Diamond Match Company factory used the water here before the park opened in 1932. A two-mile trail network passes the falls, a covered bridge and an observation tower, and Paper Mill Pond is a stocked trout park. The park is open daily from 8 am to sunset, and there is no parking fee, even for out-of-state cars.
