Mendon Ponds Park is the largest park run by Monroe County, covering woodlands, ponds, wetlands, and landforms left by glaciers. Its geology earned it a national natural landmark designation. Visitors can hike or bike on a network of trails, go birdwatching, fish, sled or snowshoe in winter, and use a non-motorized boat launch. The park includes Sharon's Sensory Garden, designed for people with visual or physical disabilities, and Wild Wings, a nonprofit that cares for injured birds of prey and hosts public visits. Six lodges and seven shelters are available to rent. Visitors are asked to pack out their trash, keep pets leashed, and avoid feeding deer, which is prohibited by state law.
