About

About San Juan Mountains

The San Juan Mountains region of southwestern Colorado centers on Durango and includes Silverton, Ouray, Ridgway and the Telluride area at Mountain Village, linked by the San Juan Skyway scenic byway; Chama, New Mexico and Gunnison, Colorado sit at its southern and northern edges. The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad are the region's historic trains, while rafting, jeep tours and hot springs are based out of Durango. Smaller towns such as South Fork and Gunnison add rodeo events, fly-fishing guides and trail-ride outfitters to the mix.
