Fun Facts

Two of the park’s most popular residents are Pumpkin and Peanut, one of the only sets of Orangutan twins to ever be born into human care. In July 2012, Peanut was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and became the first in the world to be treated with aggressive chemotherapy.

Some of Jungle Island’s famous animal residents include J.J., the highly intelligent Spanish-speaking cockatoo; Mama Cass, the only tame Cassowary on the planet; and Vulcan, the brother of Hercules, a liger who holds the Guinness World Records for World’s Largest Cat.
