Summer hours: Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day.
Open seven days a week, 9:00 am – 7:00 pm (the last tour departs at 6:00 pm).

Months of May, September to Mid-October: Open Saturday and Sunday only, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (the last tour departs at 4:00 pm).

One-hour long guided cave tour. Carrying children on the cave tour is not recommended. Strollers and backpacks are not permitted. The cave tour is moderately strenuous.

Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a jacket or sweatshirt. The cave temperature is 54 degrees.

Fun Facts

Seneca Caverns was discovered the second Sunday in June 1872 by two boys, Peter Rutan and Henry Korner of Flat Rock, Ohio, who were hunting rabbits with their dog.

Seasonal precipitation determines the level of Ole Mist’ry River (water table) and the depth to which the cave tour is conducted.

No one has ever been to the bottom of Seneca Caverns because Ole Mist’ry River flows in the cave.
