Three Tips for a Green Cape Cod Vacation
How to spend vacations in Cape Cod
As the weather warms up and everyone starts getting out, it is good to remember to keep one of the best vacation spots around pristine. Here are some tips to remember on your vacation.
"Take only pictures, leave only footprints". Of course, this has some exceptions, such as picking up seashells on the beach, but for the most part, remember to keep your favorite spots free of litter. If you bring water bottles, snacks, or something else that has packaging, don't forget to bring it back with you and dispose of it in the nearest trash can. Some spots even have separate cans for recyclables. And if you smoke, stub out your cigarettes and dispose of them safely as well.
Clean up after your pets. Aside from being aesthetically unpleasing, pet waste can be bad for groundwater supplies, so be sure to pick it up. More popular dog walking areas, such as Kent's Point and Thompson's Field, even have trash cans to dispose of your pet's waste and "mutt mitts".
Don't drive everywhere. The Cape has extensive bike trails and walking trails, so don't be afraid to get out of the car and explore on foot or by bicycle!
