Competitor Runs aground in dense fog at Eastham
The British tramp steamer Competitor ran aground in dense fog at Eastham on April 13, 1923. The vessel was in no danger and seas were calm. The Coast Guard went to the aid of the grounded vessel and telegraphed for tugs to pull her off the beach. The tugs were successful and the ship continued on her way.
