Getting married on Cape Cod gives couples the perfect chance to use beach-themes at their wedding. One theme that tends to get trumped by sand and waves is that of fishing. Fishing is quite closely associated with Cape Cod, so why not use this versatile theme when planning your Cape Cod wedding? Here are some ideas.
1. Reuse a lobster trap for holding cards. While rustic weddings tend to use things such as bird cages to hold the many cards couples will receive, a wedding with a fishing theme can use an old lobster trap. Decorate it with netting or shells to add to the effect.
2. Design bouquets and centerpieces with old lures. Use netting and lures when designing your bouquets and centerpieces, whether to accent the flowers or in place of the flowers (similar to using brooches instead of flowers). Lures can be quite colorful and playful, while netting is quite workable and can really help the lures stand out.
3. Speaking of lures...Consider giving personalized lures out to guests as wedding favors. Another favor idea? Personalized tackle boxes of Swedish fish and gummy worms! 6. Have the caterer work with local fishermen to provide dinner. If your wedding is celebrating the rich fishing history of the Cape, then it is a good idea to serve some of it up to your guests.
7. Use lures to accentuate your clothing. Consider having earrings made of lures, or using lures as boutineers for the men.
8. Name the tables after fish instead of using table numbers.
